Privacy at a glance

Meraki Node Highlighter does not send user information to the extension developer, analytics providers, advertisers, or developer-operated servers. The extension processes information locally in the browser and communicates directly with the official Meraki API only when needed to provide its user-requested highlighting features.

Information the extension handles

Meraki Dashboard API key

The API key entered by the user is stored locally using the browser's extension storage. It is sent only over HTTPS to api.meraki.com to authenticate requests initiated through the extension. The developer does not receive or have access to the key.

Dashboard and device information

The extension reads the current Meraki Dashboard context and retrieves information such as organizations, networks, devices, serial numbers, models, and switch-stack membership from the Meraki API. This information is used only to locate and visually highlight the requested device or stack on the current topology page.

Sharing, selling, and tracking

The extension does not:

Storage and deletion

The API key remains in local browser extension storage until the user removes it in the extension or uninstalls the extension. Other information retrieved for device lookup and highlighting is held only as needed during use and is not retained on developer-operated servers.

Security

Requests to the Meraki API use HTTPS. Users are responsible for protecting their API key, granting it only the permissions needed for their work, and removing it from the extension when it is no longer required.

Limited use

Information handled by the extension is used only to provide or improve its single, user-facing purpose: locating Meraki devices and highlighting them on the Dashboard topology page. The extension's use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Policy changes and contact

This policy may be updated if the extension's functionality or information practices change. The effective date at the top of this page will identify the latest revision. Privacy or support enquiries can be submitted using the support contact shown on the extension's Chrome Web Store listing.
